The Racketeer

Fiction by John Grisham.

The Racketeer

A legal thriller, with enough thrill to counteract the legality.

Good book. I did not guess the end too early, which is always a plus.

Good book about a poor girl who wants a better life, and not in a cliche'd way.

No Compromise

Subtitled: "The Life Story of Keith Green"
Nonfiction by Melody Green and David Hazard

No Compromise: The Life Story of Keith Green
http://www.barnesandnoble.com

Keith Green was an amazing person, and his story is fascinating.

However, it could have been better written. For one thing, it took me a long time to even get into this book, because almost a third of the story was spent before he was even saved. Unlike most Christians, Keith Green got more interesting with Christ.

Still it's worth reading.

Lying on the Couch

Fiction by Irvin Yalom.

Lying on the Couch: A Novel
http://www.barnesandnoble.com

This was a good book, but it took me until about 3/4 of the way through to get interested in it.

That's how long it took the author to reveal his characters' redeeming qualites. Most of the book I kind of hated them all.

Then at the end I liked them all... weird.

Between the Lines

Fiction by Jodi Picoult and Samantha Van Leer.

Between the Lines

Book for young adults written by Jodi Picoult and her daughter.

Very original idea: What if the characters in a story were alive and doing other things when we closed the book?

The Bridge

Fiction by Karen Kingsbury.

The Bridge
Oceans Aparthttp://www.barnesandnoble.com

A Christmas gift book.

This is all right for a light read, but Karen Kingsbury has some much better books.

"Oceans Apart" is good.

There's also "Divine" and "One Tuesday Morning," to name a few.
