It's Hard Not to Hate You

Nonfiction by Valerie Frankel.

It's Hard Not to Hate You

Really good (and funny!) memoir, in which the author explores letting her frustrations/  jealousies/  HATES out instead of repressing them.

Surprise! Bottling it all up is BAD.

Blogging for Dummies

Nonfiction by Susannah Gardner and Shane Birley.

Blogging For Dummies

This sounds like I'm joking, but I actually read this. It had some good information, and wasn't as boring as a book about blogging rightfully should have been.

I read this book for two reasons:
1. I'm thinking of expanding my blog.
2. I'm a dummy.

Carry the One

Fiction by Carol Anshaw.

Carry the One

There is a tragic accident at the beginning of this book that affects the characters involved over the next 25 years. This is a good premise and I was interested in how the author developed it.

I will admit that there was a little too much lesbian sex for my taste, but of course, I would have preferred none at all. So maybe I'm not the best judge of what is too much.

Other than that, this was a great book.

Awesome book. Loved it!

It's about Pre-Civil War-era Quakers and the Underground Railroad. I give nothing else away.

Read it!

Yes, this is written by Steve Martin, the actor/ comedien.

NO it was NOT funny.

It was a good character sketch, but a little disappointing.

77 Shadow Street

Fiction by Dean Koontz.

This book was okay, but definitely not Koontz's best. Too bad I paid full price for it at the airport.

On a positive note, the "bonus" novella was way better than the actual novel.

A Day Late and a Dollar Short

Fiction by Terry McMillan.

A Day Late and a Dollar Short

This is a story about an African-American family. It had really good characters, but I almost despaired of them in the middle of the story.

It ended well, so I'm glad I stuck it out.

Nappily Ever AfterIf you're interested in "Black" fiction though, I personally liked Nappily Ever After by Trisha Thomas better than this book or Waiting to Exhale (also by Terry McMillan).

How to be Good

Fiction by Nick Hornby.

How to Be Good

The main character in this book wishes her husband would change. And then he does.

Guess what? She doesn't like it.

This a funny book but also a thought-provoking one. Although I guess it's not for everyone, judging from the reviews...
