This was a good story about a group of college friends who reunite after 25 years and then inexplicably go on a survival trip together in Oregon wilderness. I liked the characters a lot.

A former investigative reporter, Faith does a podcast about people who recover from tragedy called “What Happens Next.” Now she has been contacted by someone from her past about featuring a cold case disappearance, and there are some surprises in store.
I really liked this book and will look for more by this author.
I read the first book in this trilogy (Veiled in Smoke) a while ago, and these books continue the story. All three books were good!
The first book was set during the Great Chicago Fire, and I liked how the author skipped ahead in time for the next two books to other significant events in Chicago’s history. The second book was during the World’s Fair and the third involved the Eastland tragedy, which l had never heard of. It was all interesting.

This was a historical novel set during the Great Chicago Fire. It had good characters, but was basically a romance. It's the beginning of series; I may read the others.

Brennon is a search and rescue pilot used to difficult situations in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and she's always relied on her Christian faith to see her through. But in this story she faces trouble with a heart transplant patient, a child trafficking ring, a helicopter crash, a corrupt politician, AND a handsome US Marshall. It's a lot.
This book had an exciting storyline but I didn't love the characters.

This was a good-enough straight romance set in California around 1875. Kathryn Walsh leaves the sophistication of Boston to come to a small mining town. She plans to claim an inheritance from her uncle, and to get away from her controlling stepfather, but she will find true love instead.

This story is about a small family law firm that gets involved in a potentially big patent lawsuit.
I characterized it as as a "legal thriller" but it's much more slow-paced than an actual thriller novel. Still, it was a good story and I really liked the characters.

This book is a novelization of the Hebrew people's exodus from Egypt. It is the beginning of a trilogy.
I liked it at the beginning but had trouble staying interested as the story went on; I'm not sure if this is because I knew exactly what would happen (it's in the Bible) or because I didn't like the writing style. Maybe I'm just distracted right now, but I didn't really care what happened to the characters.
In any case, this was an okay book but I didn't love it. I'm not sure if I want to invest in the other two books or not.

This was an exciting story, especially at the beginning, but I felt the symbolism got too heavy-handed and made the story less appealing as it went on. Still, I definitely wanted to finish the story and find out what was really going on.
