Don't Tell Me How to Die

 Fiction by Marshall Karp

Maggie Dunn is at the top of her game at forty-three years old. She's happily married to a doctor, the mother of teenaged twins, a successful lawyer, AND the mayor of her small town. But then she receives the news that she only has a few months left to live...

This was an amazingly good story with several surprises!

Behind Her Eyes

 Fiction by Sarah Pinborough

Louise is a single mother and a medical receptionist who meets a cute guy in a bar one night  and feels an instant attraction. Then it turns out that the cute guy is David, the new doctor at her work, and he's married. THEN she makes friends with his wife Adele and generally gets way too involved with both of them.

These are weird and unpleasant people, but the story is definitely exciting. There are some unexpected elements that stretch belief, but the twist ending is a real surprise!

That's Not My Name

 Fiction by Megan Lally

At the beginning of this story a girl who has lost her memory finds herself gravely injured and in a ditch by the side of the road. She's quickly found by local police, though, and they seem to locate her father, who has been frantically looking for her. He says her name is Mary, but she's not sure if he's telling the truth about her name, or anything else...

This was an exciting thriller with an unexpected twist at the end.

This may be my choice for best book of 2012.
